Academymut Nalunaarut is one of Kafka's short novels or "short stories". The novel was written and published in 1917 in the magazine: "Der Jude".
The story is about the monkey: "Red Peter" and his efforts to become more human. After Red Peter is captured by white men in the African jungle, he is caged inside a box and transported on a sailing ship to Europe. Red Peter's greatest wish is to escape from captivity, and as a tactic for this he learns to copy the sailors' language and mannerisms. Once in Europe, Red Peter continues to impress, and with the help of good teachers, he then presents his master's thesis in the report to the academy. Red Peter is a freedom-loving individual, so if he does not adapt, he will undoubtedly end up in the Zoo or as an attraction in a circus or a Music Hall.
There are several interesting analyzes of Kafka's text. One of them believes that the story deals with the assimilation of Jews to European culture, another deals with the danger of giving up or "forgetting" one's identity.
