Arnajaraq has been kicked out by her stepmother and walks in the Greenlandic nature when she sees that the animals look after her and then she meets the Inuarullikkat (magical creatures from Greenlandic mythology), who completely change her life.
The musical Arnajaraq is a rewriting of Frederik Nielsen's Arnajarak, written in 1948.
The performance will be a mix of animation and live acting with songs and dance for children aged 8-12. There will be audience involvement so the children are part of the story.
Goal:
The aim of the performance is to talk about life's challenges and that you can solve them with the help of others, told with songs and dance. To teach children that you can have a hard time, but that you can get help from your friends.
Workshop after performance:
The performance offers a workshop afterwards, where students who have seen the performance can ask questions, play drama games and create a scenario about what you imagine Arnajaraq does after she has been with Inuarullikkat. The 45-minute workshop is about democracy. Students will learn about what democracy is and how much their choices can help to influence our society.
The show will then go on tour to:
- Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.
- Maniitsoq.
- Kangaamiut.
- Narsaq.
- Qaqortoq.
- Nanortalik.
- Qasigiannguit
- Kangaatsiaq.
