Growing up in a village 40-45 years ago is like looking back at a completely different world. A world without telephone, television, even electricity or running water. Most of the food was brought home by the hunters from the wild, or was stored in the summer. Transport was by boat in the summer or dog sled in the winter. The school was a school chapel where the classroom was converted into a church room on Sundays and for funerals.

It may seem made up for today's children in Greenland, but that was life in the villages back then. Else Danielsen talks about her upbringing in Kangerluk in the 60's. For some of us, it wasn't that long ago: the Rolling Stones were popular then as they are now, and in the 60's people walked on the moon.

The world is changing fast. Also in Greenland. Aanaa Mikigallarmat ("When Grandma Was Little") is storytelling theatre for the youngest classes. About seasons, games, holidays, storms and respect for nature.
