Jazz concert with the Jim Milne Trio - and guest star Titken Jakobsen

The National Theatre of Greenland repeats the success of creating a foyer concert with the Jim Milne Trio. Just like last time, the set-up is a quartet in the first half, with Titken Jakobsen appearing as a guest on saxophone and a trio in the last half of the concert.

A mixture of jazz standards that many know, and Jim Milne's own compositions are performed. Between the numbers, Jim talks about his life with jazz and a bit about the numbers being played.

Jazz is not protest music, but a large part of the music's identity is a message of freedom from oppression. It is a form of music that is always improvised, never played the same way twice. It is a way of exploring the unknown both for the musician and the listener.

Titken Jakobsen (saxophone), Jim Milne (piano), Fabrizio Barzanti (electric bass) and Jonas Nilsson (drums) are a jazz group which, based in Nuuk, Greenland, tries to find the balance between chaos and order, power and beauty.

Over the last 150 years, jazz has transformed the unknown into the known for both the listener and the musician himself on the world stage. Now Nuuk itself has a representative for this type of music, where a Greenlander, an American, a Dane and an Italian meet to play music where the "unity" is exalted.

Join us in a pleasant afternoon where good music and good musicians unite in an unforgettable, uplifting and liberating musical experience.
